Mitzvah: A Spiritual Connection!

Mitzvah: Everyone Wants to Be Connected!

Most people translate the Hebrew word mitzvah as “commandment,” referring to a divine instruction or religious duty from God. In Jewish tradition, there are 613 commandments found in the Torah (the Five Books of Moses) that touch every aspect of daily life.

What many people do not realize is that mitzvah carries a deeper meaning. The word is associated with the Aramaic root tzavta, which means connection, bonding, joining together, or companionship. Through a mitzvah, a person creates a spiritual connection and relationship with God.

Rather than being merely a legal obligation, a mitzvah becomes a relational bridge, a tzavta, that binds us to God.

A meaningful act not only connects us to God, but also draws us closer to one another.

A mitzvah is not just a commandment; it is a gift. It is an opportunity for connection, a way for our souls to express love for God. Every mitzvah is spiritual medicine for the soul.

Every act of charity, every kindness, and every helping hand becomes a way to reflect God’s love by walking in His ways and obeying His commands.

“If you love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

“When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love.” (John 15:10)

“Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:3)

“But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.” (Deuteronomy 5:10)

May God help each of us demonstrate His love through our actions.

Until He Comes, we are
